Soshoji Temple

The main gate of Soshoji Temple was originally the Karamete Gate of Najima Castle, relocated here by Takakage Kobayakawa, the lord of the castle, when he designated Soshoji as his family’s official Buddhist temple. The statue of the “Horse-Headed” Kannon in back of the temple is only opened twice in 33 years, and the next scheduled opening is in 2006.
