What is the Genkai Sea?
Situated at the southwest end of the Japan
Sea, the Genkai Sea stretches over the continental
shelf with a depth of about 80 meters.
It has played a crucial part in marine access
between the Honshu and the Asian continent,
especially Korea and China, and was the scene
of the Mongol invasions of 1274 and 1281 and
a key engagement of the Russo-Japanese War
in 1905. |
